Weather & Oceanographic Data

  • Open-Meteo: Atmospheric forecasts (aggregating ECMWF, GFS, ICON and other models), marine wave heights, tides, wind vectors, and temperature, provided by Open-Meteo (open-meteo.com) with attribution under CC BY 4.0.
  • NOAA: Aviation weather reports (METAR) and tidal / sea-level predictions provided by the U.S. National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), including its Aviation Weather Center and CO-OPS tides service.
  • Pioupiou: Real-time community wind-station observations provided by the Pioupiou sensor network.

Geographic & Spot Data

  • OpenStreetMap: Spot locations, coastal geometries, and terrain features © OpenStreetMap contributors under the Open Database License (ODbL).

Wind Map

  • Esri (ArcGIS World Imagery): Satellite basemap imagery for the wind map, courtesy of Esri, Maxar, Earthstar Geographics.
  • MapLibre GL JS: Open-source map rendering library used to draw the wind map, licensed under BSD-3-Clause.
  • Apple Maps / MapKit: Used on-device to generate the aerial snapshot shown for a spot.
  • NOAA GFS (via Open-Meteo): Global wind-field data for the wind map, sourced from NOAA's Global Forecast System through Open-Meteo.

Infrastructure & Software Libraries

  • RevenueCat: In-app purchase verification and subscription management sdk.
  • Google Firebase: Anonymous authentication, app telemetry, and crash diagnostics.
  • Apple Frameworks: Built natively with SwiftUI, Swift Charts, CoreLocation, CoreMotion, and Metal. Plain-language summaries are generated on device using Apple's Foundation Models framework.
